Virtue

“A child can be taught things as abstract as virtue and honor, for a child is innocent of the experience of ignorance and prejudice that comes with age.

“In most cases, however, an adult has already made up his or her mind about virtue. Sadly the adult will usually only change his mind in the face of a traumatic event, such as a death in the family, or the advent of a serious illness.”
